Cards for a Cure 2024
The Seminole County Middle High School (SCMHS) community proudly extends its support this Christmas to Brianna Bullock, a junior from Pinckard, Alabama, who is bravely battling Acute Myeloid Leukemia. Brianna was selected as this year's recipient of Cards for a Cure, a heartwarming initiative where each card contains a personal message and a dollar.
The generous SCMHS staff went above and beyond, contributing additional donations beyond what was needed for the cards. Thanks to this overwhelming response, our school was able to present Brianna and her family with 142 cards and $202 to assist with medical expenses.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to all students and staff who participated by creating cards, sharing messages of hope, and making donations. This outpouring of support truly exemplifies the spirit of SCMHS!

SCMS students focused on research and writing in literacy projects!
9th-grade Environmental Science students wrap up their unit studying African Ecosystems with “It’s in the Poop” lab. This engaging, hands-on activity served as both a culmination of their studies and a vivid reminder that nature’s clues are often found in the most unexpected places!
Students examined the characteristics of life through the journey of a seed. Seeds were extracted through elephant “poop” and soil.

Kearston Shuler, a former Seminole County student and current volunteer for the UGA Office of Admissions, returned to Mrs. Kathryn Touchton’s classes to share her experiences and insights about being a student at the University of Georgia, providing valuable information for current students considering their future academic paths. The students enjoyed listening and asking questions and especially loved receiving some UGA swag. Thank you, Kearston!

Interest Meeting
eminole County High School is proud to announce that its students have achieved an outstanding milestone: a 100% pass rate on the ServSafe Food Handler Certification! This remarkable accomplishment reflects the dedication, hard work, and perseverance of our students and their teacher, Mrs. Jennifer Hodges.
The ServSafe Food Handler Certification is a nationally recognized credential that demonstrates a solid understanding of food safety practices, including proper hygiene, cross-contamination prevention, safe food temperatures, and cleaning protocols. This certification, administered by the National Restaurant Association, is an essential step for anyone pursuing a career in the foodservice industry.
For these students, achieving this certification is not only a testament to their hard work but also a significant advantage as they prepare to enter the workforce. The skills and knowledge gained through this program set them apart in the competitive job market and provide a solid foundation for future success in culinary arts, hospitality, and beyond.
These students' journey to certification began with completing a rigorous three-course sequence during their high school years. The courses—Food, Nutrition, and Wellness, Food for Life, and Food Science—provided a comprehensive understanding of nutrition, food preparation, and the science behind food safety. After completing these courses, students undertook their End of Pathway Assessment, demonstrating their mastery of the material and earning their well-deserved certification.
Mrs. Jennifer Hodges, who guided the students every step of the way, expressed her immense pride in their accomplishment. "These students have worked tirelessly to achieve this goal," she said. "Their commitment and determination are truly inspiring, and I couldn’t be prouder of their success."

Come out tonight to support our Lady Indian and Indian Basketball teams as they host Calhoun County at the Jesse McLeod Gymnasium. Game times are:
JV Boys- 4:30
Varsity Girls- 6:00
Varsity Boys- 7:30
Also please be there as we recognize our Seminole County Recreation Department 9-10 Turkey Bowl Champions! The ceremony will be held in between the Girls' and Boys' games. Go Indians!
