FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Seminole, GA – The Seminole County School District &  Seminole County Board of Education has received questions from community members about the software platform it uses to streamline the process of gathering and storing information for its students.  The platform is called FinalForms, and it was created by an Ohio-based company that serves thousands of public-school districts across the country.

FinalForms works on behalf of the District to collect and digitize the data which the District requires or requests from its students.  The Board remains the legal custodian of all such data, and FinalForms does not access, delete, or alter that data without the Board’s express consent.  Further, FinalForms provides the Board with full back-up copies of all data, upon request.

The processing of student data on behalf of the District by FinalForms is governed by INSERTSTATEHERE law, as well as the federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (“FERPA”), which ensures that education records are only used for authorized purposes, and are not re-disclosed without specific authorization from the District.

The Board is excited to utilize this valuable service, and encourages community members who want to learn more about FinalForms’ student privacy protections to visit: https://www.finalforms.com/blog/think-you-understand-student-data-security-you-better-read-this
