sportsmanship

Congratulations to SCHS Athletic Director, SCMHS Coaches and SCMHS Athletes for winning the 1-A Region Sportsmanship Award yesterday at the Region 1-A Summer Meeting.  Seminole County received the most votes by all region 1-A Athletic Directors to receive the award.  This is a direct reflection of our guidance by SCMHS Athletic Director, Kevin Godwin and our  coaches who instill and encourage the values of good sportsmanship while competing in athletics.  Thank you parents and athletes for representing SCMHS with high values you represent at each athletic event.  Stay classy as we continue to be the best school in southwest Georgia.

Kevin Godwin was also officially recognized as Region 1-A Athletic Director of the year at yesterday's meeting.  To win this award, the school must have the most points from sports participated by all schools.  Receiving the most points means we had higher finishes than others in our region in each sport.  Therefore, SCHS had 168 points and the second place finisher in our region had 111 points.  Seeing this point total gap shows us how great we are in our region and keep us hungry for more.  Congratulations to all our coaches and athletes for making this happen.

Coach G will now be in the running at March's annual Athletic Director conference's state of Georgia Athletic Director of the year award as well.  We wish him well in the quest for the state award and during his retirement after serving Seminole County athletics for 32 years.  Congratulations Coach G!
