Congratulations to SCMS students MaryKate Kelley and Chloe Herrin for winning the Best in Discipline award on Saturday at the Georgia Council for the Social Studies State Social Studies Fair, with their project, "Making Them Aware." Also competing at state were Drew Smith and Emma Earnest. These students all won Best in Region awards in March at the region fair held in Thomasville, qualifying them for state.
Students in Mrs. Tina Fain's 8th grade enrichment class researched social studies topics and presented their findings through abstracts, research summary papers, visual presentations and interviews. A local fair was held at SMCHS in February, and 5 projects were selected to advance to the regional fair.
